GARDEN
If you have a large garden, a Scots Pine can be a real feature tree when mature, especially if it is an alpine rockery, coastal, high above sea level or woodland garden. If you have a small to medium sized garden it is possible to make it grow smaller by growing it in a raised bed with base or large planter. This will create a bonsai effect and restrict it's growth, so even in 50 years time it might only be 8ft tall. A great tree for a wildlife friendly garden (Scots pines in southern England are the main caterpillar foodplant for the pine hawk-moth. The tree is an important habitat for Red Squirrels) As an evergreen conifer it remains green throughout the winter, and there is no leaves to clear up in autumn.

BONSAI
Bonsai trees small enough to place on a table or shelf are no different to normal trees, they have just became miniature by only having limited space to grow, in a small pot. Some bonsai trees are centuries old. If you are interested in Bonsai Scots Pine can be used to grow an Pine bonsai tree. It can be placed on a garden shelf/table or on an apartment balcony, or grown indoors.

REWIILDING / NATURE
If you own a farm, smallholding etc, or have permission to plant it in a park, roadside, business premises, school grounds etc. Scot Pines trees are a great native choice. They can grow anywhere in Britain, and even better if they are planted in Scotland, where you will be helping replant the great Caledonian forests, that once covered vast areas of Scotland. Every tree counts! It is best to keep them in a pot until they are a bit more mature, eg 30cm in height, then plant in the position where you want the trees to grow into a full size tree. If you are planting in the countryside / public park etc it will be a good idea to use a tree guard to protect trees from damage, leaves being eaten by deer etc.
