This 115 litre patio pond made by Ecosure, is a robust plastic pond that is perfect for creating a pond quickly and easily on a hard surface, such as a patio, terrace backyard, roof top garden etc, where a traditional pond might not be possible. Simply position the pond, and leave it to fill with rainwater, or use some water from a water butt. If you install in the summer with little rain, then use tap water, and leave for 24 hours. Add some pebbles and rocks in the water and some native British aquatic plants. if you want amphibians to be able to access the pond, create a ramp using logs, rocks etc at the sides, and some type of ledge for them to get out of the water, as the pond does not have shallow sloping edges.
However, even if you don't do this, it will still be of benefit to wildlife. It will soon attract aquatic insects, and birds. People overlook how great small ponds are for birds. They can attract as many birds to a garden as a bird table with food, as they will drink from it, and bathe in it. Not only will it benefit wildlife, it will also make a nice feature, and add some greenery to a hard surface area.
